Notes for Bewes de Knovill Lord Knovill
m. (1) Joan Walebrand (w/issue), (2) Eleanor de Blancminster (CP: de Warenne - same person).
His parentage is not known.
CP says firmly that Eleanor and Bewes had no issue but Louise Staley reports that they had a daughter Eleanor who m. Thomas Mauduit, son of Wm Mauduit and Elizabeth Lisle. MichaelAnne has found some documents that estabish this fact.
CP, VII, 349, says that an eventual Knovill co-heir in her issue was Bewes' daughter Eleanor who m. Thomas Mauduit of Warminster and had a son John Mauduyt living in 1361. On the other hand MichaelAnne says that Eleanor Mauduit née Knovill was the daughter of Eleanor de Blancminster. As yet I do not know if this Mauduit line continued.
CP reports hhis son and sole grandson and says his heirs were through his, this Bewes’, daughters.
