Notes for Lambert Count of Lens
His father was Eustace I, count of Boulogne, which comity was held by his descendants for a couple of centuries. His mother was probably Matilda de Louvain, dau. of Lambert, Count of Lovain.
After Lambert’s death in 1054, Lens reverted to his eldest brother Eustace II, count of Boulogne.
Armorial Blazon notes for Lambert Count of Lens
None, though might have one ascribed to him after heraldry invented, a century after his death.
The counts of Boulogne used Or three torteaux, which is the same as used by the Courtenays in England.
In Reitstap’s Supplement to Armorie General”, vol 3, p. 148, there is:
LENS--Hainaut.
Trois lions couronnes
