Notes for Henry & Antigone (Family)
CP states in VI, 139, note (a):
“On 3 Jan 1434/5 the marriage of Henry, s. and h. of John Gray kt. and Joan his wife, was granted to Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester, for £800. (Patent Roll, 15 Hen VI, m. 27).”
This patent was then used by Humphrey to marry off his reported illegitimate daughter, Antigone; the sum of £600 was rather large and makes it the more likely that he really thought that Antigone was his daughter.
