Notes for James Meyrick
m. (2) Martha Cave (used to be thought to be Martha Fish whose mother was also Martha).
The eldest son of this second marriage, Thomas, m. Elizabeth Keppel, natural dau. and heir of Viscount Keppel.

He had 2 s and 2 dau in the first marriage.  His second son John had a son Sir Samuel Rush Meyrick and about whom Rosalind Lowe has published “Sir Samuel Meyrick and Goodrich Court”, pub May 2003 by Logaston press.

In 1788 a Meyrick of London had a grant of Arms, Grants vol XVI, fol 345; sounds like a son?

Rosalind Lowe in her article on Sir Samuel Meyrick (www.smr.herefordshire.gov.uk/guest_authors/samuel_meyrick2.htm) writes of James, grandfather to Sir Samuel:

“Grandfather James was clever and unscrupulous and made a forthune out of the business of being an agent for the army.  His two eldest sons, James and John, carried on the family tradition, and by 1800 they were very rich men.  ...”

I wonder if the Trotters got involved in the army agency business?

Anne Cameron has found an article on the foundation of North Carolina where the last royal governor ended up trying to sell his commission (colonel?) via one James Meyrick for 3,500: http://www.ah.dr.state.nc.us/sections/hp/colonial/Nchr/Subjects/stumpf.htm .
